Theoretical and empirical articles
Articles that offer a significant theoretical or conceptual contribution to bioethical discussions will be considered; as well as interpretations, syntheses or novel criticisms of an existing experimental or theoretical work. Articles that address social, cultural or philosophical aspects of bioethics will be considered. Texts that make some contribution to empirical bioethics will also be considered, that is, works that seek to integrate ethical (normative) research with empirical research in natural or social sciences. Empirical research articles must have the usual structure for their contents: title, abstract, keywords, introduction, methodology, results, discussion, conclusions and references. If necessary, these texts must be accompanied by the approval of an institutional ethics committee. Manuscripts of either of these two types of texts must contain a maximum of eight thousand to ten thousand words (not including references). These texts will be submitted to editorial evaluation and, if relevant, and cover what is requested by the journal (including the analysis of similarity of texts), they will advance to a double-blind peer evaluation.
Book reviews
Book reviews on topics of bioethical interest published during the two years prior to the submission of the review will be considered. Only critical, non-descriptive reviews will be considered. Manuscripts may not exceed 3000 words (not including references).
Critical notes and discussions
Bioethics UNAM accepts critical notes and discussions of books of relevance to bioethics or articles that have been published in the journal. It also accepts discussion texts of cases of bioethical relevance or for jurisprudence that has implications in the area. Manuscripts must contain a maximum of three thousand to four thousand words (not including references). If they are pertinent and cover what is requested by the journal (including the analysis of similarity of texts), they will be submitted to the review of a member of the Steering Committee, who may accept or reject them. If they are relevant and cover what is requested by the journal, they will advance to a double-blind, peer evaluation.
