Abstract
This critical note comments on the book Perspectiva de género en la formación de profesionales de la medicina, by Fernández Altuna, Gutiérrez Rayón and Ramírez Reséndiz. The publication is contextualised, with reference made to the fourth feminist wave of international scope and the pivotal role played by university students in this movement in Mexico. The publication's contents, organised into eight chapters, are examined through a critical lens, highlighting its weaknesses and strengths. With regard to the former, the book engages with the thesis of the feminisation of medicine without addressing the limitations of this approach. This critical note also examines the methodology employed, which, while acknowledging the importance of a gender perspective, does not fully incorporate it. Among the merits of the work is the systematisation of quantitative data on the gender gaps that persist in medical education in Mexico and the potential of this publication to pose new research questions.
